Try SPU 2, 3 and 4 see what's the fastest. Also use 16x forced AF. It's best to talk in the RPCS3 discord as these forums are more for reporting compatibility and not the best for technical support as it's quite slow.

Sorry. New to reporting stuff here. Was originally just intended as a 1 off post to report how the game fared on my system. I thought I'd posted the main necessary info a few posts up.
Will try your suggestions. Thank you.
Is there an updated summary of the recommended settings? Since the original post has some that don't exist anymore. I'm not having many issues other than intermittent shader compilation and some stuttering in Boletaria. I did see a post stating that everyone stutters a bit there, is that true? Will the other worlds be better? Just wondering if I can optimize more since it stutters but neither my GPU nor CPU is maxed out.
Specs
i7 8700k (stock, not overclocked)
Radeon R9 390
16GB 3000MHz RAM
CPU Settings
PPU: LLVM
SPU: ASMJIT
SPU Threads: Auto
Firmware: liblv2 only
Enable thread scheduler
Enable SPU loop detection
GPU Settings
Renderer: Vulkan
Framelimit: Off
AF: Auto
Resolution: Default
Resolution Scale: 300% (have tried 150% with no noticeable difference)
Resolution Scale Threshold: 16x16
Write Color Buffers
Use GPU Texture Scaling
Some potential changes I've seen recommended are setting the Preferred SPU Threads to 2, 3 or 4 and setting AF to 16x. I tried those but still have the stuttering.
Question summary: Any recommendations on settings to change? Is it true that everyone has some issues in Boletaria? Is it true that the framerate counter in the window title isn't accurate? (Since it seems to say 30 when I see obvious stuttering.)
I just wanted to say how amazed I am by this emulator. I've been interested in emulation for 20 years or more and it's so impressive that this is even possible.
I have a copy of Demon's Souls and had purchased a PS4 with the assumption that it would play PS3 games as well, which, of course, isn't the case. That's when I found out about this emulator.
I had an older i5, which produced pretty laggy gameplay with rcps3, but I was able to upgrade to a new motherboard and an i7 8700 a couple of days ago. Of course, I wanted to try Demon's Souls in rcps3 right away, and it was a big improvement. The game is basically fully playable... I do have some stutter in the Boletarian castle beginning area. I have been reading over the tips in this thread (and actually the tool tips in the emulator options screen are quite helpful and easy to follow), but haven't been able to quite iron it out.
So, just wanted to say thanks for the emulator. If there are additional tips for ironing out those last bits of stutter, as well, that is most appreciated.
After finish tutorial, get killed by dragon god, my game keeps loading Nexus for hours
Both on US and EUR version
RPCS3 log
EMU : rpcs3-v0.0.5-6638-56811863_win64
RIG:Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz, 32 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 980
EUR version of the game , ripped from PS3. Got to Boletarian 1-1, dropped down to open first portcullis back to the beginning of the stage. Was killed by enemies at the same time as the portcullis started rising.
After that loading screen hangs and console output says mem: access violation writing location 0x0. No biggie, reboot rpcs3. Game loads fine, so go and load the game. Same thing happens, loading screen for 2 seconds, hangs and console says mem: access violation writing location 0x0. Every time. Tried clearing both caches and rebuilding them on start. No effect, same error.
Could it be that savegame got corrupted because I opened the portcullis (pulled the switch) and got killed straight after that? Can I somehow give my savegame to the devs for them to try to load it?
EDIT:
So I got the wulf savefile editor and after fiddling for sometime i got the modded savegame to show up on demons souls. Save has all archstones already opened. All archstones, but boletaria, work ok. They load the first mission and I can get to the boss of the level. But boletaria just won't load. error: Thread (main_thread) [0x00a67f94]} MEM: Access violation writing location 0x3f800000 when loading 1-1

Hello!
I have played demon's souls perfectly for many hours now and it has run perfectly fine.
But when i want to teleport to the final archstone (tower of latria) for the first time it stays in an endless loop on the loading screen.
And RPCS3 crashes after i open it while the game is in the endless loading screen.

Thank you!
sceNp stuff is irrelevant, upload a proper log file.
You probably just need to delete the folders named with two characters in dev_hdd1/cache
It worked!
Thank you very much!
So this game it is not playable if u don't have modern i5 or above?
