Since
https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/issues/8221 got fixed, this game is playable now. I managed to play through it completely without any major issues. Hooray!
This is not a PS3-exclusive game and among the Gothic community, it is infamous for being bad, but I tested it anyways.
Version:
RPCS3 v0.0.18-12787-ebde86b9 Alpha. There is some weirdness in newer versions that lets all my downloaded games vanish or fail which I have not debugged yet. ArcaniA suddenly fails with a RAP-related decryption error which vanishes upon downgrading. I suspect it might be related to paths and is not specific to this particular game.
Highlight: Appears to run natively at 60 fps, but the framerate dropped dramatically in some areas for me, especially the swamp. Rain also affects this.
Mandatory log:
RPCS3.log.gz (Size: 1.41 MB / Downloads: 1)
(All I did was loading some saves to pose for the screenshots below).
Screenshots
Known problems
This game is glitchy in general, even on a real PS3, so keep that in mind.
Occasional corrupted textures, many blurry textures
Enable Write Color Buffers. See
https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/pull/1063...-891171350
There are still inaccessible areas with blurry textures, but this also happens on a real PS3. You will know it is inaccessible when your character starts sliding around.
Switching games leads to a RAP decryption error
If you switch from the main game to the DLC or vise versa, it actually relaunches itself and causes a RAP decryption error. Manually selecting either the DLC or main game at start works fine though. Might be easily fixable but is more of an edge case.
Missing sound in Setarrif mine
Near the end, the sound will just cut out. Saving and reloading will actually reset you to before that specific area and behaves weirdly overall. This is not too bad though.
This impacts the DLC (Fall of Setarrif). Since this is relatively minor, I did not bother debugging it (yet).
