I have tried to make the emulator install the firmware. RPCS3 v0.0.09 - v0.0.13 with both ps3 v4.86 & v4.87. i have installed C++ RED. and all my system requirements are in line with recommended spes.

1.) After starting the RPCS3 I click File -> Install Firmware
2.) I Choose the PS3UPDAT.PUP file.
3.) I get a message saying "Successfully Installed PS3 firmware and LEE Modules!
4.) I Click OK

After this point, the software just freezes and no longer responds to windows.

Note. I left it there at one point for 3 hours and still nothing.

No one seems to be having the same problem as I am so, not really sure what to do at this point. I am on the brink of giving up on RPCS3.

I'm having the same issue on Window 10, it crashes after the firmware (but does finish installing) and freeze/crashes on both creating firmware cache and creating game PPU cache (with only one warning ·W 0:00:25.721959 PPU: PPU Cache location not initialized.) and it doesn't bother actually showing like a dialogue window or anything.

it also worked earlier- but for some reason it only worked once on my game (BLES01815), and even reinstalling both firmware and the emulator does not make it run again.
