HI

I have the latest RCPS3 version and i have a good pc:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
RAM: 16 GB RAM
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER

But soul calibur V has a lot of performance issues, the fps amount is at 45 during the opening, with a lot of slowdown. And there are a lot of slowdown also during the character select screen and during the game. I leave all the default values in RCPS3 configuration.

Is it normal? I read that this game works correctly now, without slowdowns... I'm using Vulkan (OpenGL has worse performance..).

thank you very much!

Basically, you don't. The game is fully playable but it's slow. It might run faster on Intel CPUs which have faster clock speeds but it won't run at 60 on a 3700x at the moment (I have one too). The game doesn't like attempts at locking the framerate at 30 either.

ah! I hope that it will be fixed in the future...
thank you for your feedback, I hoped that chaning some settings i would be able to run the game at 60fps...

Okay, so this is something I wasn't aware of: https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=H...me_Patches

It helps the framerate if you use the SPU MLAA removal patch. Still not enough to lock 60fps in my case though.

thanks!. Well, in the SPU MLAA removal patch section, at the beginning, there is this code:

SPU-9001b44fd7278b5a6fa5385939fe928a0e549394: # Soul Calibur V, Yakuza Ishin, Journey, Yakuza 5, Tokyo Jungle, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD, Soul Calibur Lost Swords, Binary Domain, Puppeteer
#SPUNAME: 'PS3_Release/edgepost-mlaa-task.s'
  - [ be32, 0x000031f4, 0x40800003 ] # il r3 0
  - [ be32, 0x0000349c, 0x40800017 ] # il r23 0 # Comment this line out to fix the blackscreen in Puppeteer

But how can I use this patch? I don't know how to apply this code...
thank you!

Assuming you're running on Windows, create a new text document in the same directory as RPCS3 and call it patch.yml

Copy that text you just posted to patch.yml, save it, and RPCS3 will then use the patch.

And use a code editor like Notepad++, don't use any text editor like Wordpad or Notepad

thank you, done! Well now the opening anche the menù sections are almost perfect, 58/60 fps. During the game now it is better than before, but still not really good (45/55 fps).
After that, I tried SPU Block Size = Mega (instead of "Safe") and now also the game session is almost perfect, with about 53/60 fps. Try and let me know if you can notice some improvements.

Hi bro, hardcore SC fan here, really nice to know about this patch thing, I will give it a try.

My specs:

i5 9600k
MB: Asrock Z90
RX 580/8gb
16 GB RAM
win 10/directx 12

SCV and SCIV, both work on my system at 59-60 fps constantly. SCV has some pfs drops on title and character select screen, trainning mode and some scenarios a slight drop (around 1-5 fps), generally the game is playable and with no graphical glitches for me on version 0.0.6-8465, which has been the best version for me so far, with Ezio Auditore functioning without issues.

SCIV: The game seems to run on 30 fps on intro and cinematic intro (dk if it is cuz of emulation tho), but once it is in, it runs full 60 fps, full details and better antialiasing than SCV. The funny part is that I thought having better hardware will give better performance for sure, but looks like it depends more on trying different versions of the emu, at least for me, latest realeases of RPCS3 are also laggy for me, seems like they do so many tweaks and changes in the main code that really a more recent version doenst necessarily improves performance/quality in certain hardware/software. So my best bet is to go for the no so, old versions, look for better configurations and have good luck!.

Now, the question that I have being asking to myself is how the graphics in SCV are not as crisp as in SCIV in my setup?, I have tried countless setups but SCV and it still looks a little "aliased" (almost unnoticiable tho.)

I would really suggest you and anyone interested in running these games at a full speed and playability to go for the no so old versions of RPCS3, the "0.0.6s" and after, and u surely will get better fps. possible crashes and bugs on stages and certain characters will be about testing different versions.

The legend will never die!!
