game just stops working on a white screen tried every setting  and looked at the forum page for the game couldn't get anything to work.

Are you getting error
F {PPU[0x1000000] Thread (main_thread) [0x00fb8c70]} MEM: Access violation writing location 0xd0000d50

That's the one I am getting.

Same error here. Full white screen after loading "gow1.self"

Check if the file exists. If you dumped the disc using a PS3 then you need to merge file parts back together.
