Can someone confirm if the standalone PKG versions of these games are the same, or if they have more, less, or different issues?

As for MGS3, I tried the standalone PKG version as of 0.8-9355, with 3700x, 2060S, Win10 1909, Vulkan, LLVM and it seemed almost playable.  40-60fps (game speed tied to framerate, so not great here) with some transparency sorting issues.  (intro cutscene has lens flares and a monitor in front of all other geometry, Snake's hand and cigar have transparency and sorting issues too)

I was able to finish Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. I loved every bit of it. The performance is amazing and rendering is impressive. I'm amazed at how good and smooth RPCS3 is !!! Everything worked as expected.

Here is my hardware setup
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
GPU AMD Radeon RX 5700XT [Radeon Software 20.2.1]
Memory: 64 GB DDR4 3200
Displays 3 1440p connected to Display Port
Display 4 (LG OLED 65" 4k): Connected via HDMI to an Onkyo Receiver then to graphics card
Audio: Onkyo Receiver decoding PCM from PC then sending signal to TV with 7.1 channels
Controller PS3 with ScpToolkit on Bluetooth

RPCS3 Software setup
RPCS3 Version: 0.0.8-9597-634c4355 Alpha
PPU: LLVM
SPU: LLVM
Vulkan
Multithreaded RSX
Resolution 1280x720
Scaling to 150% 1920x1080
Anisotropic Filter = Automatic [using 16x produced double lines artifacts]
Anti-Aliasing = Disabled [using anything will cause wireframes to show up and transparency issues]
Audio = Disabled Downmix to Stereo (Since the Onkyo Receiver can decode PCM to 7.1 automatically]
Audio = Enable Buffering [changed it from 100 ms to 30 ms. That fixed audio clipping in cut scenes and radio communication]
XAudio 2
[see attachment]

Here are the issues I got: [Attached Log file in .7z]
1. I found an issue consistently throughout the game. When characters move in cut scenes there is a black square around them. I wish it can be resolved.
https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipOD...1Q-gkMDMJu

2. Slower speed and frame rates in final scene with the boss. Also slower whenever there are a lot of particles (rain. flower, machine guns firing in boss fights).

3. Anti-Aliasing does not work.

4. 4k Performance is okay but not great. [I was watching CPU and GPU usage. I noticed I'm around 30-40% but the game is unable to take advantage of the additional performance my computer has]

5. Since this game has 3 games in it. You have to manually launch each one separately which will close the window and open another window. Since I'm using Display 4 to play games (not my primary monitor) I wish RPCS3 has an option to allow you to select on which monitor to launch the game in full screen. That will resolve my issue.

Overall, I'm truly impressed by the emulator. Also Peace Walker launched with no issues. I'm attaching pictures as well for reference.

Is there a way to remap the controls so soft pressure release of a face button could be mapped to a button or a button combo essentially remaking the Xbox 360 controller layout. Neither the DS4 or any of the Xbox controllers have pressure sensitive face buttons.

Playable
Beaten the game from start to finished.  Gameplay FPS is Variable/Stable/Stable. (A new set of PPU module are successfully built, MGS3 FPS performance is stable at the entire game regardless of 60FPS output, Graphic/Cutscenes are well-rendered. (Res. Upscaling In MGS3/MGS2, some characters/objects might be surrounded with square black-line, that also existed in remastered version of PS3/PS4).  Sound/Effects are clearly working.

# Gameplay FPS = (48~59~60) | (59~60) | (59~60)
# Cutscenes stable (59~60) | (59~60) | (54~60)
# Cinematic Footage/Comic/Dialogue Call stable (59~60) | (29~30) | (59~60)
# RPCS3 v0.0.15-12167-64a109d2 Alpha
# Default setting [Res. scale= 300% Fullscreen 4K]
# Intel i9-9900K @ 3.60GHz | 32GB RAM | 2070S 8GB Nvidia | NVMe storage (3500MB/2500MB Read/Write).

@ MGS3
The Boss/Pain bosses have some an instant FPS drops/recovery at certain spot.

@ MGSPW Bug: Destroy the Barricade/Head for Dr.Strangloves Lab/Extra Ops
# This mission require: C4
# This mission require: ID Card (H)
# Extra OP: Fulton RECOVERY system requires for this mission
# Extra OP: weapons are required on this mission

Easy Method | Compatible with Latest Ver: (Completed game with this one including Extra Ops/Zeke Battle)
     # Set Network status = Connected (Network)
     # Set PSN status = Simulated (Network)
     Workaround | Older Version:
     Download/play with RPCS3 0.0.12-11014 (New Directory)
Copy/Place your savegame temporarily & Complete your game.

@ MGS2
The blurry motion effect of some cutscene has some an instant FPS drops/recovery, which doesn’t effect to video/sound sync.

MGS3 still doesn't perform well enough overall, you have a 9900K

Hello people. I hope all is going well for you. Smile

This is my first post, so I am going to thank the whole RPCS3 community, especially the DEVs. I was introduced to RPCS3 after watching a video on Modern Vintage Gamin's YT channel. I believe emulation, at this point, is a consumer right since there is no way to play some older games you have bought and owned in a decade or so. The developers themselves really do not care in most cases. So, thank you.

But I digress. Let's get to the actual point. This is my first post, and I tried to follow the rules. so if anything is missing, please let me know.

My specs are:

-Ryzen 3600
-Nvidia 1650 Super
-16GB Memory
-Win 10

Regarding the whole MGS HD collection, I use BLUS30847, Version 1.03. My RPCS3 version is 0.0.16-12221 - 7b6482c0 Alpha

I managed to play MGS 3 surprisingly well with the provided settings in the Wiki. But my main issue now is Peace Walker, which should work very well, but it does not so I am asking you people for help.

For the sake of this post, I cleared the log file, removed all caches, and I am going to provide a brief explanation and then attach the information.

With the recommended settings on the Wiki, the game does some PPU compiling, then freezes on "Compiling Shaders" (Bottom left of the screen) after I select Peace Walker to play. Nothin happens. It just freezes. After about a few minutes, it crashes. Please note that the RPCS3 itself does not crash, only the "Game" screen.

If there is anything else I should provide, please let me know.

Dear fine people,

After requesting help on the official discord, many different solutions were suggested and tried, none of which helped.

I just decided to use a previous build, and I randomly selected 12236, with the exact same settings, and the issue was resolved!

Oddly enough, I encountered another issue during the game (Peace Walker), and I was not able to start a mission since it kept telling me "Fulton Recovery System is needed for this mission", despite the fact that I had it selected. I found a post on Reddit which suggested using build 11014, and by using that build the new issue was also resolved!

TLDR; So far, it appears that the most compatible build for playing Peace Walker (For me) is 11014 to prevent in-game bugs. If anything new happens, I will update this post.

Update 1: For the in-game bugs, some suggest using different Network settings in RPCS3.

I'm uploading a save file that was uploaded to discord in response to
"Anyone have a metal gear 3 save of the last boss fight?"
I see the question asked enough times I'm utilizing the forums to host the file for those who need it.

Please keep in mind I personally have no method of testing these files. Please only message me if these are the wrong files. Remember to ask on the discord for support or make a support thread on these forums if you need help.

I think that this game should go in playable now, I have just completed MGS3 on the HD collection with my i5 13600kf and 6950xt

I understand when Ani said that needing a 9900K would mean that it is not playable for a lot of people back in 2021
But now in 2023, a recent i5 is having comparable performances (a little better actually) than an old i9!
