I was able to come back and do some more testing. I'm now able to run the game at a stable 30fps by changing the Preferred SPU Threads up to 3. (Along with SPU decoder to LLVM and Enabling Write Colour Buffer.)
Unfortunately, sometime between my initial post and this one a random crash has started to occur. During combat (seemingly at the end of a combo) the game will lock up entirely. Background music will continue to play, but otherwise will hang on a single frame. Waiting for upwards of 5 minutes did not see any change. This happens in both the tutorial and game proper.
The log is also full of red "rsx: fs exports depth component but depth test is disabled" which may or may not be relevant.

Edit: As of version 0.0.9-10202-adfc9d93 Alpha it seems that enabling Accurate Xfloat OR using ASMJIT as the SPU Decoder both seem to avoid the crashing, but comes at the cost of 5 less fps and audio stuttering.

as of version v0.0.10-10405-703841e2

this game, has only a couple of minor graphical bugs, that didn't affect my progression, or experience

if you exclude that, i would consider this game fully playable.

i got locked 30fps and no crashes with spu block size set to mega
and spu threads to 6 (with less i got some minor audio and game stutters, but with 6 it ran perfectly)

the game needs write color buffers enabled to display some graphics, and i tested some other gpu related settings on the advanced tab, but didnt seem to do much

my specs:

Windows 10
Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.5GHz
24gb RAM
AMD RX 480
