Just want to share my experince with this great emulator and the search for a good configuration; at first I did try on my laptop equipped with Intel i7 3.6ghz - 11th Gen equipped with an Iris XE GPU.
I got some good result with some old PS3 games while most recent one were really slow, and hosetly I started to play with configrations to get some extra FPS....but nothing seemed to work.
I'm talking about games like Top Spin 4 or NHL 14 which I think we can define really "heavy"; I had the opportunity to test them over different machines:
To be honest the only configuration that worked great is the last one the one with 12 cores / 20 thread and a powerful GPU.
So at the end my advice is not to try to play with config too much....at the end of the day I think you just need a really powerful CPU.
Hope this helps someone who's first using or newbie using this wonderful Emulator.

- Laptop i7 3.6Ghz - 11th gen - 4 cores / 8 thread (Iris XE) -> unplayable - 10 fps
- Laptop i5 3.6Ghz - 12th gen - 6 cores / 12 thread (Iris XE) -> slow - 25fps
- Desktop i7-12700 - 12th gen - 12 cores / 20 thread (Intel UHD 720 + Quadro T1000) -> silky smooth - 80/90 fps
