Hi all,

I’m currently upgrading my pc and I use rpcs3 a lot. For Rpcs3, would a 3700x or a 9700k perform better in terms of average fps? Assuming on par components like Ram, gpu etc.

I need some help deciding as this pc is used exclusively for emulation, and the decision affects motherboard, cooler etc.

Also, higher tdp processors aren’t really an option as it’s a tiny pc case.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi Xergoth,

I tend to lean towards Intel CPU's, but I would recommend the CPU with the most cores/threads. You could dedicate more threads to RPCS3, possibly increasing performance.

Hi, Xergoth: Have you finished your new computer?
It will be interesting to know your final decision and the result.
Many of us will be facing your same decision in the near future, so it´s very interesting to know.
Ryzen it´s gaining lots of attention right now and the near future is more promising yet with the Ryzen 3 and the APUs on the PS5 and Xbox Scarlet being a clone of the future Ryzen 4400G, but I have the doubt if the Rpcs3 favor Intel AVX instructions more than the number of cores.
How about that?

don't know for rysen but try rpcs3 on two computer at home
firs one 6700k with 1060 gtx
second one i7 5960x with gtx 660

Second one is lot faster than the first
so for intel most core are better than high frequency i guess
