Specifically it can't seem to handle absorbing the soul. The green glow hits my character, and in freezes in the next few frames. This crash in most cases also stops RPCS3 from running, and I have to kill it in task manager.

I am using RPCS3 0.0.5-6756-a68dac728 Alpha, which was the latest release yesterday when I downloaded it.
I've tried several different settings and resolutions, but my current setup is using the lowest possible resolution in an attempt to fix the crash. (It didn't work)
My drivers are up to date, and my rig meets the requirements to run RPCS3 (I was getting no dropped frames at 4k resolution, so lag does not seem to be causing the crash)

Windows 10
Intel Core i7-6700k 4GHz
16GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
Video Drivers are up to date (GeForce Game Ready Driver Version 397.64, Release date: 05/09/2018)

My log file is attached. I found it was empty after the first few crashes, so I replicated the crash and saved the resulting log.

I'm having the same issue since I updated to the latest build. Before that the game ran poorly but worked. Since new update my old save file did not work so I started a new character. Now I can see clear improvement in performance in tutorial area, but the moment I kill an enemy and am about to receive souls, the game freezes.

Same issue for me as well. In fact, the last version of the EMU that started up fine and let me play for an hour or so before the game would freeze was v.6696. With the newer versions, the game freezes during the initial loading screen, or once I kill the first enemy. If I reload the game, I can get a little farther into the tutorial stage, but it still eventually freezes up within a minute, with the FPS counter dropping to just under 10 FPS at that moment as the sound continues playing.

Now granted, I haven't tried every single version of the EMU since then, but it was after 6696 that the load/first kill freezes started for me.

I was able to get the game working on an older build, namely build 0.0.5-6675-bd1d4de42 Alpha, which I found in the compatibility list here: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/rpcs3/rp.../artifacts
These are my settings

CPU:
LLVM Recompiler
ASMJIT Recompiler
Preferred SPU Threads: 5
Enable Thread Scheduler
Enable SPU loop detection

GPU:
Renderer: Vulkan    (OpenGL will not boot with any settings I've tried)
Resolution: 1280x720, scaled 300% to 4k (3840x2160)
Write Color Buffers
Use GPU Texture Scaling

Game runs great after compiling some shaders. Some very occasional video and audio lag, usually when loading a new area, subsides after new shaders are compiled. Made some progress, no crashing whatsoever.
Unrelated, but my DS4 will not connect via microusb to usb, with or without DS4windows. Bluetooth works, but will disconnect if idle, and the controller will not reconnect when put in bluetooth mode. More of a windows bug.
However, when connecting again, RPCS3 will not register inputs until the program is restarted.
Anywho, someone please ping me if a new release fixes the issue, and I will gladly update to the latest version.

Same bug for me. Do devs know about this situation?

Known regression, you must use older build until it's fixed
