You need OpenGL render only to avoid crashes. And "Strict Rendering Mode" is strongly recommended setting to make in-game texts not disappear.
Also, in Vulkan there are problems with flickering decals and memory overflows, so it's not recommened for now.

UPD:
I got able to play intro movie without emulator hanging after. I just recoded mp4 video with a video converter, and now it plays right.
Maybe there's some problem in emulator on decoding some video files. Developers, please, pay your attention on it.

Your settings? Emulator version?
Try to remove "data" folder from your emulator dir - it will compile new code that probably should work.

Im on latest master build, using same settings you've provided few posts ago.
Deleted data (did new compile) - result always same - never got beyond this point.

Try on this build now - https://yadi.sk/d/nqE7T9ZZ3MSEDs.
And this is my game fix that you should copy into the emu's dir (with overwritting files) after game is installed on hdd and compiled - https://yadi.sk/d/uI8QeqdH3MSEDw.
If freezing is gone, just copy latest emu build into the same folder (it will keep settings and will figure out, who's falut here) and check again.
