I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but CEX files should probably work fine.
Someone with more experience with CFW PS3s might be able to give a better answer.
What i mean is on ps3 if a game requires a higher fw than whats on the console you would normally need to either update to a newer cfw or lower the fw requirements. i wanted to know if that still applied with rpcs3.
We don't check for firmware requirements or anything. If the game is able to run with firmware files from a lower version, then I guess it simply does, but it might work.
As far as I know, all newer modules should be backwards compatible with older games.
