Hey, made an account just to post about this game. As of : RPCS3 Version: 0.0.18-12720-00618995 Alpha
This game is SO close to being playable, with SPU Threads 3 on Vulkan with Multithreaded RSX turned on, I'm getting a nice 60 fps in the menus, a 50-60fps doing the first training drill where you run around, also with the basic tackle avoidance drill, all pretty solid. When the full teams get rendered in an actual game, I'm getting 17-22fps, which is juuuust enough to make the game kinda gross to play, but man, RPCS3 has come a long way. I also get some random crashes while on the field which don't seem to have any consistency, sometimes it'll crash during just a training drill, sometimes you can play a couple plays in a full game until it freezes, other times it doesn't seem to crash at all; very hard to ascertain what's causing that. I heard that it might be due to a memory leak but was on a build of RPCS3 from a while ago, like two years ago, but that still could be an issue. I'm just tinkering with settings to see if I can increase performance, at the moment 22fps is about the best I could achieve during a full game.
i7 6700K 4.0GHtz, GTX 1070, 32GB RAM, not a crazy powerful PC build to be honest.
I tested increasing the vBlank - doesn't boot.
It's also kinda strange to note that this seems to be one of the few games where the PS4 and PS5 controllers DON'T natively work on actual PS3 hardware; most games will work with these controllers after simply plugging them in or syncing them with Bluetooth as a device, but not this one. Which means if you wanna play this on hardware (which I have) you've gotta deal with that original PS3 controller which just feels so flappy and inaccurate compared to the PS4&5 controllers, especailly with this game making heavy use of the sticks (which drift a lot on OH), and those triggers. Also the frames are about 30 on actual hardware which kinda sucks to go back to after getting a taste of that sweet 60 frames.
When you hit a patch of 60 FPS on RPCS3 in this game it feels amazing, this game was lightyears ahead of the competition of American football games when it comes to actual gameplay; if we could just squeeze another 30 frames out of this it could be HUGE for the NFL gaming community, which at the moment gets served the same under baked Madden year after year, using the same clunky tired animation system, with the smallest changes to stats every year being hailed as a massive change by the influencers paid off by EA to tout about.
Anyway I'll keep testing this game out as the updates continue to roll out. It might not have sold well but I truly believe that this game could have a fantastic second life as it gets introduced as a madden killer to a whole new generation of gamers on this wonderful emulator.
Oh and this was all tested with the 1.01 GreatHouse #3 update, which I have the pkg file for but I don't know if I can share that here.
