Dragon's Crown [BLUS30767]

launched through steam using steam controller as gamepad.
Installed the following .pkg files in teh following order:

2(storyteller dlc) ryrrQRCopOMVpiadCyAQdclEOVvFqrDjbKaYtgrRCQyGmgektHCqAEUgRBgGmBEg.pkg
3(1.06 patch) UP0005-NPUB31235_00-DRAGONSCROWNDL00-A0106-V0100-PE_fw4.40.pkg

RESULTS
1. game loads fine
2. I can get to the char selection etc.
3. i start tutorial. sound immediately dies
4. I finish tutorial. i get black screen of forever.
5. ????

results repeated 20 times to be sure its not random.
however. there were two times that the screen went to perma black just before char menu. after clicking "new data".
