I solved the problem with game freezing.

Problem is fixed by using "PPU interpreter (fast)" in settings.

In 15 minutes of the game I did not encountered a problem with "freezing".

May I know if this works regardless what API (vulkan or openGL) you are using?

I used a Vulkan. I don't know about OpenGL.

Perhaps this also works on OpenGL too.

Thank you for the Tip. Unfortunately if i choose PPU interpreter the game only runs 17fps. can you do a screenshot of your whole settings so that I can apply it to mine? Thank you

My game is the same running 17 fps in cutscenes, 20-30 fps in the battle. I don't think my settings will help you.

( I'm sorry. My English is not so good. )

Thank you for the screenshot. I just don't understand some user can play the game without experiencing the freezing issue. I think i better wait for the dev team to fix it. thank you so much

Hi,

So I've been playing Tales of Graces F a lot through Geforce Experience with a friend.

Everything works nicely, except:

- The FPS which isn't limited outside of battles, which isn't too big of a deal (makes you run faster outside, which is kinda nice). Also may cause some audio desync, especially during cutscenes. Not game breaking.

- Random freezes that crash the whole game. I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact cause. It happens in OpenGL or Vulkan, more frequently with Vulkan, and it can happen at anytime time. The music will usually shut-off prior to the freeze (the voices will still work). Some areas of the game are freeze-free, while others make the game crashes in a matter of seconds.

I can't say if the freezes are GPU or CPU related, although you can use interpreter (fast) to pass zones that are unplayable otherwise (due to the very frequent freeze), but your FPS will probably drop (mine was 4-6 fps), so use it as your last resort method if you're blocked.

Except the freeze, the game is fully playable. But due to its random nature, and because that's a full crash, I don't recommend it as it's very frustrating to lose 10min+ worth of battle/game in such an unpredictable manner. It's probably something minor to fix, so we just have to be patient and the game will be 100% playable from start to finish.

https://forums.rpcs3.net/thread-198913.html
Hope it will help

Using this method I've currently been able to play through the whole game without any game breaking issues

What I use
  •  The version I've used last: 0.0.5-6978-3e433ef05
  •  Bandicam to lock the fps into 30 fps when needed
  •  JoyToKey to easily toggle fps by binding it to a button on the controller (PS4 controller pad for me)
Bandicam and JoyToKey might become obsolete if a newer version enables the use of auto fps in the game

Issues I've encountered
  • Random sound stuttering, fixes itself if left alone for a minute or so, only occurs rarely
  • During /cutscenes/animated scenes you need to toggle the fps back to 30 or the audio will desync and overlap
  • 60 fps is used during  combat, skits and in menus, setting the fps to 60 and forcing it to 30 with bandicam will result in normal combat, making it easier to manage your fps during cutscenes that come right after combat so you only need to set it back to 60 during skits and menus though its not so noticable in the menu (or if you want to speed up things like warps, elevators, farming or just travelling faster)
  • For some reason, some of the early boat departing scenes got really low fps, but didnt really hinder the game
  • In katz korner the fps wont be steady if set to 60 for some reason, not really relevant
  • In earlier version using OpenGL resulted in audio corruption followed by game crashing or freezing during cutscenes so that the characters would not advance in their animations any further, using Vulkan fixed this for me, haven't tested using OpenGL since but I presume the latest versions have fixed the issue based on other peoples posts
So far I've not seen any graphical bugs or glitches and the only problem that I've had is forgetting to toggle fps for cutscenes. My settings might not work for everyone since my pc has better than average specs; you might experience fps drops or crashes so test around with the settings.

The settings I use, only CPU and GPU are altered
