Demon Souls crashing at launch

I'm using the latest relase.The game worked the first time I lauched it, until it freezed, so I forced quit. After, right at the moment where the game is verifying save files, it crashes and indicates error 0xC0000005. Is is because of the save files? I tried everything, including starting RPCS in Windows 8 compatibility mode, which I read worked for some people, but nothing worked. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks!
