Noooo I don't think so. I am a true believer that anything is completely possible. Whether or not the emulator will be able to mimic how the console actually works is a little beside the point. Yes, it seems you need the correct functions in order to have proper operation, but as the years go by, we will see a vast improvement in PC performance, as we naturally do every year.

Whether or not the emulation can emulate how is less important than what it has to work with, it seems. I mean, if we wanted to build a PS3 we could do it, but we want to emulate it. So if we have superior hardware, regardless of how many cores/threads we try to connect to, we will have stronger components physically to work with.

I have no doubt in my mind that people will catch onto the idea of this open-source emulator as it because more feasible and usable. More developers with equal or more skill will likely join as new programmers look to experience themselves with something fun.

Maybe 2 years from today we will be in competing ground for having something run-able.

I guess what I was saying before was that it seems bleak now, but if people have the will to develop, it most certainly will become something very usable, just like Dolphin, PCSX2, etc.
