Cause the 10980Hk definitely doesn't have TSX, and I didn't know whether you were saying was a workaround to enable that.
I will say though, my older laptop which has an 8850H in it, 6 core, locked at 4.1 ghz currently, HAS TSX
and the two extra cores in the 10980HK I have now make such a difference it's crazy.
there are literally games I can't play at full speed at 1080P with the 8850H/GTX 1070 aorus laptop.
With the 10980Hk/2080S Alienware, I can even play games at 1440P or 4K with the cpu limited to just 3.5ghz to keep the laptop quiet!
So those two cores are making a massive difference, and no TSX at all!
TSX is definitely enabled on my 8850h in rpcs3 settings, so I wonder how much of a real world difference it makes these days.
I built this laptop with my own hands on the basis of G752VSK, an engineering sample of the processor is used. I'm not sure what kind of model it is, something between 9980HK and 10980HK. AIDA64 says it's comet lake, but the CPUID is 906ED like the 9980HK. There are no problems with cooling, it can withstand 70-80 degrees at full load. Faced with the problem that in rcps3 with TLOU the CPU load is only 50 percent, it gives 40 fps, but it seems to me it can be 80 xD Maybe it has something to do with the fact that only 8 cores are displayed in the device manager, but all 16 threads are visible in the task manager (on i7, threads were visible in the device manager). Other games (not RPCS3) can use all 16 threads
I unlocked TDP to 75W and 95w short-time, 140A current, -0.040v voltage offset. The frequency is 4.7
