Tested using 0.0.31-16342-54ab16ab Alpha
The game appeared to run smoothly and with no graphical glitches. However, after my first mixture was completed, the game immediately crashed.

It has been 11 months since I last tested this game. In 2-3 hours I was able to do a few mixtures, go outside the city, and talk to people with almost no bugs. I did have the issue with boxes appearing over text, but it only happened in one scene and then went away. After all of that, the game is now crashing whenever I do alchemy (attached)

Taking notes from other Atelier games on this forum, I was able to make it past the constant crashes by switching PPU Decoder to Interpreter (static). However, this causes FPS to go from a solid 60 everywhere to 45 at best and as low as 15 (it is still 60 in the 2D cutscenes, at least). FPS mostly depends on the number of characters, not the size of the area. For example, FPS in the atelier will be 45 with 0 NPCs, but drops to 30 when two are loaded in. The game is obviously bottlenecked by the PPU, as changing the SPU does not seem to impact performance.
The black text box glitch appears to be caused by using the default SPU Decoder, Recompiler (LLVM). Switching to Interpreter (dynamic) fixed that issue.
When trying to hire Gio for the first time, the game would consistently crash. I was able to work around this by switching SPU Decoder to Interpreter (static) just to do that and then switching back. Rehiring him - and other party members - later did not cause a crash.
I was able to reach the end of the game (attached screenshots are proof) so I think this game should be updated to Playable.
