So Sly 2: Band of Thieves is currently suffering from a bug that turns the whole screen black except for the health bar. I want to share more about what this bug is, since it can be triggered intentionally on console!
The speedrunning community and glitch-hunting community refer to this glitch as "Bottle Crashing" due to the fact that in-game clue bottle collectables are sometimes instantly collected when the black screen appears.
On console, this can be triggered by opening up the Paraglider gadget in tight spaces, and it does this when trying to push the player out. This can also be triggered by moving the camera in a certain way. This can be done on PS2 emulator by using Cheat Engine to set the player's X, Y, or Z coordinate to Infinity.
One popular theory as to why this happens is the player's model is being stretched along one axis, which is why clue bottles are instantly collected upon reaching the black screen. Sometimes the character model remains stretched after reloading the area, which is why this is the most popular theory.
All of the PS3 remasters of the Sly Cooper games suffer from slowdowns and rendering inaccuracies caused by the PS3's different hardware, so the low emulation speeds could be the cause of it, since this should only happen in very specific circumstances that don't occur during normal gameplay. Once performance improves this should get better.
I just didn't want this to be dismissed as a black screen bug when it really isn't.
