Full Version: Updating, not losing shader cache?

Hey all, I've just been unzipping the archive into the directory I have RPCS3 installed into, but it seems to be overwriting my shader cache, and causing me to have to recompile all of it, which obviously sucks.

One of the pages of the quickstart guide says to just to drop the new executable into the install dir to update, of course, it's worded in such a way as to indicate you'd be able to download a standalone binary, but in fact the releases have the whole install dir's contents.

My question, obviously, is should I just be unzipping the rpcs3.exe file into the install dir when I update to a new build, as opposed to the whole archive, to avoid deleting my shaders? None of the other files are being changed?

Or am I missing something?

Thanks!
It's not overwriting shader_cache, RPCS3 doesn't come with anything in data folder.
shader_cache version was updated, so you need to generate a new cache on newer versions.

Ahh ok, gotcha, thanks, I thought I was doing something wrong.  Cheers!
