Hi there,
I have a problem with Demon's Souls, when I use Vulkan I have flickering lights and when I use OpenGL it will crash the graphics card driver at the point where the female voice says the word "slumber", but without the light flickering. Here is a video showing the light flickering problem with Vulkan:
Like you can see in the video I also have several 0,5 - 1 seconds freezes.
I'm using the version 0.0.4-6314 of RPCS3 and tried many others, without success.
I'm using an AMD Ryzen 1800x (Hyperthreading disabled), AMD RX Vega 64 with the driver version 17.12.2, 16GB Ram 2800MHz and everything is installed on a SSD operating in Windows 10 Pro.
These are the settings I used in the video but I also tried nearly every other combination of settings and also the EU version of the game:
Here is the RPCS3 log.
Here is the (real) RPCS3 log.
I hope these are all the information you need to help me out.
Are there anyone else with this kind of setup and these problems?
Edit 15.01.2018:
I'm also using AMD FreeSync, could that be a problem to the emulator?
I've not tried to turn it off by now, will try it this evening when I'm home. -> Ok, no change...
Edit 16.01.2018:
I've edited a new log with the same problem above.
ssshadow hinted me that it can be a problem with RX Vega cards, because no team member of RPCS3 has one to test it.
So I tested it myself. I switched my Vega with my old R9 290 and it totally works in Vulkan. No lighting flickering at all and even no stutter.
For OpenGL it worked but it had some stutter and strangely a 1 - 2 second freeze at the point where the female voice says "slumber" in the intro, like with my Vega card but without the driver crash.
Here is the log for the R9 290 Card, first with Vulkan then with OpenGL.
