You need to use Force CPU Blit to get GoW 3 to boot properly at the moment, it's in the config.yml settings.

Sadly I can not boot at all, black screen with:
Force CPU Blit: true
PPU: LLVM
SPU: ASMJIT
Automatically load required libraries
Enable SPU loop detection.
Running an i7 4790k, GTX 970

So instead of my computer, I tested this on my brother's computer (an alienware desktop with hardware leagues more powerful than mine), with some reconfigured custom settings (had to reset custom settings after a computer crash (in no way associated with rpcs3) caused the custom config to bug), and I managed to boot to the start screen with full color; problem is, the shifting lighting in the background causes some of kratos's white-skin to fade in/out to black and back again, so its not a total positive

here's a zip containing the console log and the custom configs, and a pic of my brother's comp stats (provided by speccy)

version of rpcs3 used is 0.0.6-7788-4c593959 alpha

Edit: I made this post in a rush due to my grandmother trying to escape the house for the nth time in a row, and I apologize for breaking forum rules, so here's a proper list of the settings I used
UI Style: Darker Style
CPU Settings
~~~~~~~~~
PPU: LLVM Recompiler (default)
SPU: ASMJIT Recompiler (Default)
Firmware Settings: Auto-load required libraries
Additional Settings: Default settings (accurate xfloat had a red box, so idk what that means)
GPU Settings
~~~~~~~~~
Render: Vulkan
Graphics Device: Geforce GTX 1080
Additional Settings: Write Color Buffers, Strict Rendering Mode, Disable Vertex Cache, Disable Async Shader Compiler (All On)

Rest of settings were left alone, and Force CPU blit was set to True; Zippyshare links (1 and 2)to the recorded vids of main menu and part of the intro cutscene during a new game run. The main menu audio ran just fine, maybe a tiny bit of stuttering. But during the cutscene when the titans are climbing the cliff-side of Olympus, the video lags to the point where it de-syncs from the audio, hearing hermes doing his coinflip while gaia is still climbing, hades launching himself off the balcony to directly attack one of the other titans while the gods are gathering to see what they need to kill, etc...
RPCS3 0.0.6-8566-94dd6c20
Game patched to version 1.03.

Vulkan renderer, Write Color Buffers ON (as stated in the Wiki entry). All other settings were left at default.

Intro video with credits renders flawlessly (see image 1).
Main menu works fine, there are small visual glitches on Kratos' face (see image 2, 3). Seems to be lighting related, can't fix it no matter what boxes I tick in the settings. OpenGL has the same issue.
First ingame cutscene runs stable at ~45fps (see image 4, 5) although I think it's supposed to run at 60. Seems a bit slow.
As soon as the gameplay starts, the fps drop to around 4-6 which makes it very hard to actually progress. Audio starts to immediately desync. Visually, it seems okay - no big glitches so far (see images 6, 7).

At some point the game will crash with a desync error (see attached logs). The crash seems to be kinda random but I can never make it further than ~15min in. Also, it's quite hard to play at 5fps. Wink
Playable
Finally beaten the game from start to finished with random hanging/freezing.

# Gameplay FPS = (22~60)
# Cutscenes (55~60)
# RPCS3 v0.0.9-9959-eb2dcaf6 Alpha
# Default setting [Read the workaround below]
# Whatcookie patch v1.3 used
# Intel i9-9900K @ 3.60GHz | 32GB GB RAM | 2070S 8GB Nvidia |NVMe storage (3500MB/2500MB Read/Write).

@ Graphic Lighting problems

Default Setting ::-
Merit
==> Higher FPS performance (35~60)
==> Stable gameplay @ Res. Scale = 150~300% (Windowed)

Demerit
==> ONLY Broken light @ outdoor area (landscape/Sun/thunder/Heavy lumination).
==> ONLY Hanging/Freezing @
  • Broken light @ outdoor Area (Staying still too long at the broken rendering)
    [e.g.; RSX: FIFO error: possible desync event (last cmd = 0x3efc5b40) x22483.]
  • Fullscreen gameplay.
Non-default Setting ::- Wink
[Enable Write Color Buffers (GPU) + Force CPU Blit emulation (Debug)]

Merit
==> Fix Lighting @ outdoor Area
==> Stable gameplay @ Res. Scale = 150~300% (Windowed 1080p) Big Grin

Demerit
==> Less FPS performance (15~45)
==> Randomly Hanging/Freezing @
  • The same area of Fixed Lighting
  • Fullscreen gameplay

The workaround I followed Cool ;
I started playing with non-default setting, when Hanging/Freezing happens. I switch back to default setting to pass that critical freezing area.  After that, re-enable non default setting to continue gaming with fixed lighting/better graphic.

Those sound like too much problems for a "playable" game, also, 22-60fps even on a 9900K?? Yeah that doesn't sound like playable to me at all

You are totally right.  As I observed, the game framelimit is set to AUTO.  So, some area perform well with 30FPS or 60FPS (it depends).  Also, if you have those condition, the game lags so much::-
  • RPCS3 = HDD & Backup = HDD  ==>  Very Slow (Loading blackscreen)
  • RPCS3 = SSD & Backup = HDD  ==>  Normal speed (sometime Loading blackscreen + Hanging/Freezing)
Therefore, I suggest
  • RPCS3 = SSD/NVMe & Backup = SSD/NVMe  ==>  Very Fast!!
when using NVMe storage (e.g. 3500MB/2500MB), the FPS dropping/recovery just happened very fast in second. Even Compiling Shader happened in blank. you rarely feel few lagging or FPS dropping.

Check your storage speed transfer.
