New i3 from 8th gen will be better than any of the AM3+ CPUs, you don't need to go that high. Although at least an i5 would be recommended.
Problem is you're stuck with an useless board and DDR3 RAM if you want to upgrade.

Bad luck you got there.
Point is, don't upgrade to any other CPU on that socket. Better save the money, unless you find some 8320/8350/8370 for ~50€.
Trust me, I own a 8350 myself.

I will respectfully recommend you to ask a tech savvy friend before you purchase a PC, I live a in a third world country and there is a insane number of people trying to sell (scam?) obsolete parts/computers at full price, like a GTX 8800 for almost ~300 USD. I import my own parts even if they cost a little bit more. Purchasing that FX computer in 2017 makes no sense to me, I am not trying to rub salt by the way just to warn you to be wary so it does not happen again. Now if you got that FX computer for a bargain like 50 USD then disregard .

I'm running game i3 ULV at 24-30fps not bad at all for my weak laptop.
Vulkan
PPU Recompiler (LLVM)
SPU Recompiler (ASMJIT)
Preferred SPU Threads 2 ( set 1 will lock FPS to 30 but not playable duo a SPU crash too quick)
Bind SPU threads to secodary cores check ON
Enable SPU loop detection check ON
My laptop
i3-6100U 2.3ghz
Intel HD 520
12GB 2133mhz DDR4 RAM
Only issuse is line that can be seen in screenshots.

Yup Intel HD 520 has diagonal strip but OpenGL fix diagonal strip but kill frame rate 3-7fps. I keep using vulkan with diagonal strip because 24+fps in dungeon 18-21fps in battle and 11-14fps in station and town not very bad coming form i3-6100u 2.3ghz.
