Forgot to update, oops, sorry. I have finished the game and the DLC successfully without any major issues, so technically the game is playable just fine. Still suffers from crashes though so it's not ideal. Thankfully game allows saves at any point and it saves quickly so it's not preventing it from being finished.

Managed to successfully finish the game, further updates seem to have improved the performance and eliminated the visual glitch. Crashes still present though seem to have lessened, mainly only when traveling from area to area after a while of playing. Loading a save and moving between areas after works fine for a while, with frequent saving, the game can be beaten.

No settings changed from default except again, adjusted vblank frequency to 120Hz for 60 FPS.

Game starts fine with default settings, but as soon as the first tutorial combat encounter starts, the FPS tanks to low 20s and the log gets flooded with messages like these (full log attached):

Code:
...
·E 0:05:36.395097 {RSX [0x01e5894]} RSX: [Performance warning] Texture gather routine encountered too many objects!
·E 0:05:36.426361 {RSX [0x01e5894]} RSX: Stale surface at address 0xc1681400 will be deleted
...

This also happens if you adjust VBlank frequency to 120Hz to get 60 FPS. I skimmed through various old builds and discovered that the last known good build for this game is 0.0.14-11749 (making pull #9772 the one to break things). With that build I can continue well into the game past tutorial section.
game is fully playable from start to finish including epilogue as of 0.0.25 alpha at default settings.
MInor visual problems occur sometimes during combat.
Also beat epilogue, again with minor visual glitches that do not affect the ability to beat the game.
I did not bother to patch 60fps, so game runs at 30fps..
no crashes.

Judging by the fact i have not updated my emulator in over a month due to numerous game breaking glitches in every other update and it still says "ingame" i can only imagine that you have a lack of testers.
