I can confirm that on 0.022-13654 with the default settings, the game does not go past the intro.
However, by using some compatibility settings (using both interpreters, using some of the compatibility flags in the Advanced -> Core section) I was able to get into the menus and even start the game (the performance, predictably, is atrocious and there are some graphical glitches, most notably the characters' face textures are missing / misplaced, in the battle simulator, the character is upside down).
